4/3/2022: Back to Character Modeling

While I have been supporting the Huli Jing team on making 3D assets such as the main character's bed for the interior design and scene of his house, I finally can work on my character modeling on the Hunter. I remember I had some advices with two of my instructors telling me not to model the Hunter yet because they want me to help the team for making the scene first and make animatics. Since I already participated and helped the team for making the bed model, now it is a good time for me to catch up the Hunter's base model.
Before we kept going, we had some advices, again, with our instructors about texturing. We thought about making test textures, but it turns out it is too early to start texturing the assets. We heard that we do texturing and animating for the next semester in fall. Our plan is to keep modeling and create more 3D animatics. For story artists, they are still making some thumbnails, more character art details for clothing, and finding more historical references to follow the Ming Dynasty. We are going through the beats and they want to make some additional beats for the middle of the story (where the seasons changed from spring to summer). The story artists wants us some ideas on what to add more for the characters to create a connection and to make it cinematic. As I want to help the story artists on making some beats, I want to ask them if we can make a scene about the two characters, the Hunter and Huli Jing, start to show romantic connection in the forest because the forest is one of the biggest setting and it can make this scene a huge cinematic way. Perhaps they might like that idea.
Moreover, since my duties is to model the character, I am helping the story artists on finding references on cloth and other references for the character's style. I am almost done making a base head. Then, I will make the base body. After finishing the character's head and body, I can model some hair (if we cannot do any hair simulation) and make a cloth and test on doing FX cloth on Maya.
