As my Huli Jing team and I made an animatic, we presented it in front of our production and our instructors. We got our blockings in the scene layout for the beginning of the story first. I believe we finally did some great improvement for our senior thesis. Even it's still the beginning of the senior thesis project, we are following the right track. We had some feedback from our instructors that we should keep going on our animatic, and if there are something else such as the 3D assets, storyboards, etc. we want to show our instructors for improvement, then we will definitely show our professors on what we want to improve on.

This is the storyboard of the Huli Jing made by talented students named Elena Fleishman, Jess Fields, Sharah Lee, and Lindsey Rister. They completed this storyboard from Fall 2021.

Above: this is our first animatic me and my Huli Jing team made and presented in front of our production. I am very proud that we made into a good start of our progress. We decide to keep going. Keep blocking, make some animations to match the story, and keep making camera shots.

While we are working on upcoming animatic, I am still working on 3D assets. The 3D asset I am working on is the Hunter's bed. Since I made a primary form last time, I finally made some tertiary forms. The bed frame and mattress are beveled the way I wanted to make. For the blanket, since I did some cloth test before, I did some FX effects in Maya. While the blanket geometry was cached and was in nCloth, the blanket looked so smooth like its actual cloth. For the pillow, I have been researching about ancient Chinese furniture and interior designs in the Ming Dynasty era. Most of the pillows I found were made out of ceramics and jade. It is funny that it made me wonder if it is ever comfortable to sleep on.

Both of these pillows were involved the Ming Dynasty era, and it is made in ceramic. For the Hunter's interior design, I feel the pillow should go with the second, bottom reference because he lives in a farming house, and the first image may seem too rich and high class for the Hunter.

This is my first 3D asset I finished for the Hunter's bed. I hope this model will look great for the animatic and for the scene. I wonder I want to try add textures on this model, but I am not sure if it is too early, but I will see if I can try to do it before we keep going.
